MENANDS — Two Albany residents were arrested following a months-long investigation into a fraud scheme that caused significant financial loss to a local senior citizen, police announced Thursday.
Melissa D. Christie-Cameron, 30, and Naphtorley T. Wilson, 29, both of Albany, were charged in connection with the scam that was first reported to the Menands Police Department in October 2024.
According to investigators, both suspects have ties to the Capital Region and Jamaica, with Wilson also maintaining several connections in New York City.
The pair were arraigned in Menands Village Court and released on their own recognizance as the charges were non-qualifying offenses under state law.
Police officials indicated that additional arrests may follow as the investigation continues.
The department credited the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center for providing valuable assistance throughout the investigation.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat elder abuse, a Menands detective recently completed specialized training at SUNY Ulster focused on identifying, investigating, and preventing crimes against seniors.
