WORCESTER — A 24-year-old Worcester man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Washington Street two days earlier.

Luis Nascimiento faces multiple firearms charges after Worcester Police detectives developed probable cause linking him to shots fired on March 30.

Officers initially responded to Washington Street at about 9:45 p.m. on March 30 after receiving reports of gunshots in the area.

Upon arrival, police found evidence confirming that shots had been fired, and the case was referred to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.

Detectives charged Nascimiento with carrying a firearm while unlicensed, carrying a loaded firearm while unlicensed, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

Nascimiento was taken into custody on April 1 when detectives conducting surveillance in the Washington Street area spotted him and arrested him on two outstanding warrants.
