SMYRNA — A local resident was arrested Thursday on a drug possession charge following a routine traffic stop, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
Kristopher A. Kovack, 43, of Smyrna, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree after deputies allegedly found methamphetamine in his possession.
Deputies initially stopped Kovack’s vehicle for a traffic violation on March 27.
Further investigation led to the discovery of the controlled substance, authorities said.
Kovack was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of North Norwich Court at a later date.
