Rollover crash on I-91 in Barnet

BARNET — An 89-year-old Newport man suffered minor injuries after his vehicle rolled over on Interstate 91 northbound Tuesday afternoon.

William Smith was driving a 2024 Toyota Rav4 when it left the roadway near mile marker 125 at approximately 4:13 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.

The vehicle went airborne before rolling, police said.

Smith was wearing a seat belt and did not require hospitalization.

His passenger, Roberta Templeman, 76, of Brownington, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.

Templeman was also wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Toyota was totaled in the incident.

Road conditions were dry and weather was clear when the crash occurred.

St. Johnsbury Fire Department and Calex Ambulance assisted state troopers at the scene.
