ONEONTA — New York State Police arrested a 40-year-old Oneonta man Wednesday on multiple felony charges including possession of child pornography, illegal substances and weapons violations.
Dustin R. Hummel was taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant at 10:30 a.m. on March 26.
During the search, investigators discovered images consistent with child sexual exploitation, according to police.
Authorities also found suspected illegal substances, a defaced firearm and high-capacity magazines that violate New York’s SAFE Act.
Hummel faces six felony charges, including second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.
Additional charges include two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
The arrest resulted from a joint operation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations at Oneonta, the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
Hummel was processed and transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility where he was remanded without bail.
