CORINTH — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a local woman on multiple counts of animal neglect after authorities discovered several animals without adequate care at a property on Heath Road.
Tamara DeStanko, 57, of Corinth was charged with nine counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals-failure to provide proper sustenance, all class A misdemeanors, following a complaint received on March 24 at 11:23 a.m.
According to sheriff’s officials, DeStanko failed to provide adequate care to seven horses, a goat and a pig in her possession.
DeStanko voluntarily surrendered the horses on Monday to Equine Rescue Resource of Pine Bush.
Two of the horses were transported to Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga Springs for medical evaluation.
The pig and goat were turned over to separate volunteers.
DeStanko was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Corinth Town Court at a later date.
