BOSTON — Members of the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a 22-year-old Jamaica Plain man on firearm and drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop Tuesday.
At about 2:26 p.m. on April 1, officers on patrol near 295 Centre Street observed a double-parked vehicle without an inspection sticker.
As officers attempted to approach the vehicle, they observed the driver, later identified as Youssouf Mboukoh, exit the car and enter a nearby building while a passenger remained in the vehicle.
Officers made contact with Mboukoh inside the building, where he initially provided a false name and admitted to not having a valid driver’s license.
Further investigation revealed Mboukoh’s true identity and that his license was suspended.
After multiple requests, the passenger exited the vehicle, allowing officers to conduct a search.
During the search, officers recovered a Taurus G2C firearm with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.
Officers also discovered approximately 27 grams of cocaine, two grams of heroin, four grams of crack cocaine, 75 grams of an unknown white powder, and $828 in U.S. currency.
The passenger was released from the scene.
Mboukoh faces multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, trafficking Class B substances, and possession with intent to distribute Class A and Class B substances.
He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
