ST. JOHNSBURY — A 64-year-old local man was arrested after allegedly trespassing at a convenience store and threatening to kill a police officer.

Robert Turcotte was taken into custody at Maplefields on March 30 at approximately 11:49 p.m., according to the St. Johnsbury Police Department.

Officer M. Johnson responded to the store following reports that Turcotte was violating a trespass notice issued on Oct. 31, 2024.

Upon arrival, Johnson located Turcotte inside the store.

Police said Turcotte refused to leave the property and was subsequently arrested for trespassing.

According to authorities, Turcotte began yelling and swearing at Officer Johnson in the parking lot and threatened to kill him multiple times.

Turcotte was issued a citation for criminal threatening, unlawful trespass, and disorderly conduct.

Due to his high level of intoxication, Turcotte was transported to a correctional facility for detox, officials said.

He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia Court on May 12.
