Man arrested in Albany, NY after menacing incident with handgun

ALBANY, NY — A 33-year-old Tuscaloosa man was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly pointing a handgun at someone in a parked vehicle.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. when an Albany police officer was flagged down near Madison Avenue and Delaware Avenue regarding a menacing incident involving a handgun.

During the investigation, officers learned that the victim was sitting in a parked vehicle near Madison Avenue and Willett Street when a male approached, pointed a handgun at him, and then fled the scene in a vehicle.

The officer broadcasted the vehicle information over police radio, and officers spotted the vehicle at Henry Johnson Boulevard and State Street where they initiated a traffic stop.

Officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from inside the vehicle during the stop.

Marcus Lewis, 33, was identified as the suspect in the menacing incident and taken into custody.

Lewis was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd.

Following his arraignment in Albany City Criminal Court, Lewis was remanded to the Albany County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
