GLENS FALLS — A 24-year-old Glens Falls man was arrested five times in one week, facing charges ranging from criminal contempt to burglary, according to city police.

Matthew P. Benway was initially arrested on March 25 on an active warrant from Glens Falls City Court for menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

Three days later, at approximately 12 a.m., Benway was arrested at a Burger King restaurant and charged with obstruction in the second degree.

Later that same day, at approximately 6:35 p.m., he was arrested again following a complaint for violating an order of protection, resulting in a charge of criminal contempt in the second degree.

In the early morning hours of March 29, at approximately 2 a.m., Benway was arrested at the Open Door Mission for two separate incidents.

For the first case, he was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree and criminal trespass in the third degree.

The second case, which police say occurred shortly before at Peter’s Pub, resulted in more serious charges including burglary in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and menacing in the third degree.

Benway has been remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail pending further court proceedings.
