EAST KINGSTON — A Dover man was arrested Tuesday after leading police on a pursuit that spanned multiple towns and ended in East Kingston.

East Kingston Police were notified of a pursuit of a reckless driver traveling north on Route 108 from Newton at approximately 2:35 p.m.

The chase began in Amesbury, Massachusetts, where authorities successfully deployed spike strips, causing all four of the vehicle’s tires to deflate.

Despite driving on flat tires, the suspect continued fleeing until officers stopped the vehicle on Haverhill Road near the intersection of Bowley Road.

James Alesse, 37, of Dover, was arrested and charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, disobeying a police officer and resisting arrest.

Multiple agencies assisted in the incident, including police departments from Amesbury, Massachusetts, Newton, Kingston, and South Hampton, along with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials noted this incident was unrelated to another incident occurring in Exeter during the same time period.
