BLOOMFIELD — The Bloomfield Police Department is alerting parents and community members about the dangers of realistic-looking BB guns after seizing one during a recent incident.
Officials shared an image of the confiscated BB gun to highlight how closely these items can resemble actual firearms.
These “replica” BB guns are designed to look like real weapons but fire plastic or steel pellets rather than live ammunition.
Connecticut law classifies these BB guns as “dangerous weapons” under state statute 53-206C, according to police.
The department emphasized that the realistic appearance of these weapons poses significant dangers, particularly when handled by children or inexperienced users.
