WESTBROOK — Westbrook Police Department detectives have solved several major theft cases resulting in criminal charges against three men, officials announced Friday.
In one case, detectives recovered stolen tires and rims valued at more than $3,000 from a local dealership.
Neil Marletta, 35, of Kennebunk, was charged with felony theft after investigators worked with other agencies to locate the stolen items.
In another investigation, detectives identified a suspect who allegedly used a lost debit card to make fraudulent purchases.
Joseph Wescott, 40, of Westbrook, faces multiple charges including theft by deception, theft by unauthorized taking, misuse of identification, and operating after habitual offender revocation.
In what police described as an unusual daytime theft, detectives investigated the stealing of an ATM from a business during business hours on a weekday.
The investigation led to a residence in Saco where officers executed a search warrant, recovering some of the stolen money and tools used in the theft.
Maxwell Juvet, 38, of Saco, was charged with felony theft and possession of burglar’s tools in connection with the ATM theft.
Detectives credited assistance from the public and area businesses for providing evidence that helped solve these cases.
