SOUTHBRIDGE — Police executed a search warrant at the Starlite Bar & Gallery on Hamilton Street Saturday evening, resulting in the arrest of the establishment’s owner for illegal alcohol sales.
Officers and detectives from the Southbridge Police Department, assisted by the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC), raided the business at approximately 5:05 p.m. on March 29.
The search warrant was the culmination of what authorities described as a “lengthy ongoing investigation” into illegal alcohol sales at the establishment located at 37-39 Hamilton Street.
Police seized all alcohol including beer, liquor, and kegs, along with cash and sales receipts believed to be proceeds from illegal alcohol sales.
Demetri A. Kasperson, 55, of 51 North Street apt#2 in Southbridge, was arrested at the scene.
Kasperson faces multiple charges including sale or delivery of alcoholic beverages without a license, keeping for sale and exposing alcoholic beverages, and illegal storage of alcoholic beverages.
The suspect was held at Southbridge Police Headquarters pending bail or arraignment in Dudley District Court on Monday, March 31.
