BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 21-year-old Roxbury man Sunday in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred at South Bay Mall last week.

Juan Mejia Caminero was taken into custody following a traffic stop at 301 Warren Street in Roxbury, according to the Boston Police Department.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a shooting that took place on March 23 in a parking lot at South Bay Mall, located at 1104 Massachusetts Avenue.

Officers initially responded to a call at 908 Dorchester Avenue on March 23, where they found an adult male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Through their investigation, detectives determined the shooting had occurred earlier that day at approximately 12:23 a.m. at the South Bay Mall parking lot.

Police identified a suspect vehicle and broadcast the information to officers citywide.

On Saturday at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers observed the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald’s at 301 Warren Street in Roxbury.

After conducting a traffic stop and identifying Mejia Caminero as the driver, officers placed him under arrest.

Mejia Caminero is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (firearm) and three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
