REDDING — A 38-year-old Redding man was arrested Monday after allegedly stabbing his elderly mother in the neck at their Limekiln Road residence, police said.

Michael Amari called 911 at approximately 12:40 p.m. on March 30, telling dispatchers he had “attacked his mother with a knife” and asking them to “please come and save her,” according to Redding police.

Officers responded to the scene and found Amari standing outside the residence, where they took him into custody without incident.

The victim was transported to Danbury Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was admitted for treatment.

Amari was also taken to Danbury Hospital, where he was treated and released back to police custody.

He faces multiple charges including first-degree assault on an elderly person, cruelty to persons, second-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct and interference with emergency calls.

Police are holding Amari on a $750,000 bond pending his arraignment at Danbury Superior Court on March 31.
