LEWISTON — A 44-year-old woman died after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing Main Street early Thursday morning, police said.
Jessica Sawyer of Lewiston was hit just after 4:30 a.m. near 391 Main Street by a 2024 Toyota Tacoma driven by Jordan Blais, 31, of Auburn.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Sawyer in critical condition.
She was immediately transported to Central Maine Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, Blais was traveling inbound on Main Street when his vehicle struck Sawyer in the roadway.
Police closed Main Street for several hours while accident reconstructionists and investigators processed the scene.
Weather and road conditions appear to be contributing factors in the crash, according to preliminary findings.
