Meth found under child’s car seat in Vestal traffic stop

VESTAL — A Binghamton couple faces felony drug charges after police discovered approximately 4 ounces of methamphetamine hidden under a child’s car seat during a traffic stop.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force conducted the stop on Bunn Hill Road in Vestal on March 26.

During the investigation, Binghamton Police K9 Cocoa alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

A search revealed approximately 115.1 grams of methamphetamine concealed beneath a car seat where one of three children had been sitting.

Lacey N. Brown, 25, and Jacob C. Brown, 25, both of Binghamton, were arrested and each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Child Protective Services responded to the scene and took custody of the children until they could be released to a trusted adult.

Authorities also seized $1,242 in U.S. currency during the traffic stop.

Both suspects were arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility, where they remain in custody.
