CORTLANDVILLE — A McGraw man was arrested and charged with rape and sexual abuse following allegations reported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Randy S. Mercier, 44, of South Street in McGraw, was arrested at 3:57 p.m. on March 27 after an investigation into sex abuse allegations.
The sheriff’s office received a report on March 24 about incidents that allegedly occurred at an undisclosed location in the Town of Cortlandville.
Investigators determined that Mercier had subjected one victim to inappropriate sexual contact.
Mercier faces charges of first-degree rape, a felony; first-degree sexual abuse, a felony; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
Following his arrest, Mercier was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing.
He was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. on March 27 and remanded to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
Mercier is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on April 14 at 11 a.m.
