GENEVA — A convicted felon faces additional charges after attempting to escape from Geneva City Criminal Court Monday morning.
Loyd Kennedy, 36, of Rochester, fled from the courtroom at approximately 10:30 a.m. after being remanded to the Ontario County Jail during his initial court appearance.
Kennedy used physical force in an attempt to run through a security checkpoint, according to the Geneva Police Department.
Ontario County Court Deputies successfully apprehended Kennedy and transported him to the Ontario County Jail.
During the escape attempt, an Ontario County Court Deputy was injured.
The deputy was examined at Geneva General Hospital and released.
Kennedy now faces additional charges of escape in the first degree and assault in the second degree, both class D felonies.
