Teen charged with attempted homicide after striking pedestrian with car in St. Albans

ST. ALBANS — A 19-year-old St. Albans resident has been charged with first-degree attempted homicide after allegedly striking a juvenile pedestrian with his vehicle following an altercation.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:55 p.m. on March 29 at the intersection of Barlow Street and Upper Welden Street.

According to the St. Albans Police Department, officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers found a 16-year-old juvenile with serious bodily injuries.

The victim was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Through investigation, police located the suspect vehicle and its operator, identified as Nathan R. Early, 19, at an address on South Main Street in St. Albans.

Police determined that Early had been involved in an altercation with the juvenile prior to the collision.

During the altercation, Early allegedly threatened the juvenile with a large knife before returning to his vehicle and intentionally driving into the victim.

The identity of the juvenile is being withheld due to their age.

Early is being held without bail at Northwest State Correctional Facility.

He is scheduled to appear at Franklin County Courthouse at 1 p.m. on March 31.
