Plattsburgh man arrested for stealing excavator, causing damage

PLATTSBURGH — A 35-year-old Plattsburgh man was arrested Saturday after allegedly stealing an excavator from a local business, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

Derick P. Coolidge was charged with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony, and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony.

Deputies arrested Coolidge at 3 p.m. on March 29 following reports of the stolen excavator.

Authorities allege Coolidge damaged property while stealing the construction equipment.

Coolidge was located near the scene and taken into custody with assistance from New York State Police.

He was arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court on behalf of Schuyler Falls Town Court and remanded to the Clinton County Correctional Facility without bail.

Coolidge is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face the allegations.
