FAIRFIELD — A two-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 89 northbound near mile marker 112.3 around 10:27 p.m. Saturday when a pickup truck struck the rear of a bus following a suspected medical event.
Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks responded to the scene after reports that a pickup truck had collided with the back of a school bus.
Jacob Boulerice, 31, of Swanton, was driving a 2014 Ram 1500 truck northbound behind a 2020 Freightliner bus operated by Paul Sheppard, 70, also of Swanton.
According to police investigation, Boulerice suffered a suspected medical event while driving, causing his vehicle to accelerate and strike the rear bumper of the bus.
A passenger in Boulerice’s truck helped regain control of the vehicle, which came to rest off the right side of the highway.
The bus, which was carrying passengers at the time, sustained minor damage to its rear bumper but was able to be driven from the scene.
No injuries were reported from either vehicle.
The Vermont State Police were assisted at the scene by St. Albans Town Fire Department and Stone’s Towing.
