WATERVLIET — A 16-year-old female from Troy was arrested after Watervliet police discovered a loaded handgun during a routine traffic stop Sunday.
Officers conducted the stop at approximately 5 p.m. on March 23 after observing a vehicle violating state traffic laws.
During the investigation, police found a loaded .22 caliber handgun protruding from the teenager’s waistband.
The teen was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, a Class C felony.
The driver of the vehicle faces charges of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, a misdemeanor, along with additional traffic violations.
Following arraignment in Watervliet City Court, the female was released with an appearance ticket to return to Family Court at a later date.
