Newborn’s body found in Manchester pond, police seek information

MANCHESTER — A suspicious death investigation is underway following the discovery of a deceased newborn in the area of Pine Island Pond on the afternoon of Thursday, March 27, in Manchester.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Manchester Police responded to a report of a body in the water at Pine Island Park, located off Brown Avenue.

Responding officers located what appeared to be the body of an infant in the water.

Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie V. Duval performed an autopsy on the body today.

While the cause and manner of death are still undetermined and pending further testing, the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that the child was a newborn female.

Her identity remains unknown.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Department of Justice, along with the Manchester Police Department, are requesting the public’s assistance.
