PORT JERVIS — A house fire on East Main Street near Kellog Avenue brought multiple fire departments to the scene Friday afternoon.

Orange County 911 began receiving numerous calls reporting the blaze at 2 p.m.

Port Jervis Deputy Chief Rohner arrived within two minutes of dispatch and confirmed a working fire.

Squad 1, Truck 7 and Engine 2 arrived shortly after, with Squad 1’s crew stretching a line to extinguish the bulk of fire on the exterior.

Remaining crews conducted searches of the home and began opening up walls and ceilings.

Fire was located on the first and second floors, as well as the attic, due to balloon frame construction.

Command requested additional mutual aid to the scene for manpower.

The fire was knocked down and placed under control in 20 minutes.

Fire damage was limited to the exterior, walls and attic, saving the rest of the home.

Port Jervis operated on scene with the Milford, Westfall, Huguenot and Sparrowbush fire departments.

Montague and Matamoras provided standby coverage in Port Jervis stations.

The scene was turned over to Orange County Fire Investigators, Port Jervis Police and the Building Department.
