CHELSEA — The Chelsea Police Department has arrested Eduardo Romero, 26, of Chelsea, in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Thursday, March 27.

Romero faces charges including Assault to Kill and other related offenses after being taken into custody by CPD detectives Thursday night.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., a 24-year-old Chelsea resident alerted a CPD officer on a detail assignment on Broadway that he had been stabbed in the abdomen.

Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim and gathered a description of the suspect.

The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he is currently hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Chelsea Police Chief Keith Houghton commended the swift response of the officers involved.

“Our officers acted quickly to provide critical medical assistance to the victim while also securing key information that led to the identification and arrest of the suspect,” said Chief Houghton.

Romero will be arraigned in Chelsea District Court today.
