ALBANY, NY — A 15-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the February shooting death of a man found in a vehicle on Yates Street.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Yates Street near South Lake Avenue at approximately 1:40 a.m. on February 10 after reports of an unresponsive person inside a vehicle.
Police found 21-year-old Quadair Hoffler with a gunshot wound to his head.
Hoffler was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 15-year-old suspect, whose name is being withheld due to his age, was taken into custody in Virginia on March 14 with assistance from the United States Marshals Task Force.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany County Family Court.
A second 15-year-old male was apprehended in South Carolina on March 19, also with assistance from the United States Marshals Task Force.
The second suspect is awaiting extradition and will be arraigned in Albany County Family Court at a later date.
