LAGRANGE — The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in separate cases involving larceny and criminal contempt.
Ibrahim A. Hammond, 40, of New York City, was arrested on March 25 following an incident at a financial institution in the Town of LaGrange.
Deputies responded to the location at approximately 10 a.m. for a report of fraudulent activity.
Hammond had left the area when deputies arrived but was located nearby.
After investigation, Sheriff’s Office Detectives took Hammond into custody and charged him with Grand Larceny in the third degree, a felony.
Authorities allege Hammond deposited a fraudulent check and later returned to withdraw the money.
Following processing, Hammond was arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center without bail.
In a separate case, Barry A. Gutierrez, 35, of East Fishkill, was arrested on March 25 at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center where he was already incarcerated.
Gutierrez was charged with Aggravated Family Offense, a felony, and Criminal Contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
Officials say Gutierrez violated an order of protection by contacting a protected party via telephone.
Gutierrez remains incarcerated and is scheduled to appear in the City of Poughkeepsie Court on April 8.
