WEYMOUTH — Two men face drug trafficking charges after Weymouth police seized approximately 44 grams of fentanyl and 11 grams of cocaine during an arrest Tuesday.

Detectives from the Weymouth Police Narcotics Unit observed suspicious interactions between Luis Tejeda Diaz, 24, of Dorchester, and Andrew Kiriakos, 42, of Weymouth, near 100 Mediterranean Drive at approximately 1:15 p.m., according to police.

Officers recovered four knotted baggies of suspected fentanyl after approaching Kiriakos.

When detectives attempted to stop Diaz, he initially tried to evade capture before complying with police instructions.

Authorities towed Diaz’s vehicle to the Weymouth Police Station where they discovered a hidden container in the undercarriage containing 18 additional baggies of suspected fentanyl and 13 baggies of suspected cocaine.

Police also seized one cell phone and $1,400 in cash during the investigation.

Diaz faces charges of trafficking fentanyl (36-100 grams), distribution of a Class A substance, possession with intent to distribute Class B, and failure to stop for police.

Kiriakos was charged with possession of a Class A substance.

Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned at Quincy District Court.
