SPRINGFIELD — Three people were arrested after police seized more than 11,000 bags of heroin, two illegal firearms and over $92,000 in cash during a joint operation Tuesday.
The raid, conducted at approximately 8:30 a.m. on March 26, involved members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit-West, and several other law enforcement agencies.
Investigators executed search warrants at two locations following an investigation into suspected heroin/fentanyl distribution.
At an apartment on the 500 block of Plainfield Street, officers detained 21-year-old Jeremy Collazo, who was the primary subject of the investigation, and 22-year-old Jasmine Soto-Sepulveda.
During the search, investigators recovered approximately 700 bags of heroin, a large-capacity Ghost Gun and more than $2,500 in cash.
A small child was also present in the home at the time of the raid.
Concurrently, officers executed a second search warrant at a residence on the 0-100 block of Suffolk Street, targeting Wilfredo Arvelo-Ruiz, 29, who was identified as a co-conspirator.
Arvelo-Ruiz was detained after being stopped in his vehicle on King Street.
The search of the Suffolk Street residence yielded an illegal firearm with a switch making it fully automatic, nearly $90,000 in cash, approximately 10,600 bags of heroin, 98 rounds of ammunition and five large-capacity firearm magazines.
All three suspects face multiple charges including possession of firearms without proper licenses and drug trafficking offenses.
Arvelo-Ruiz faces additional charges including heroin/fentanyl trafficking of more than 200 grams, possession of a machine gun, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
