NEWPORT — A North Troy man charged with selling cocaine and violating a firearms restriction order pleaded not guilty in Orleans County Superior Court.
Roger Pion, 47, was released on conditions by Judge Rory Thibault after his arraignment on felony charges. According to Vermont State Police affidavits, Pion was arrested following a Vermont Drug Task Force investigation that began in February.
Court records show police executed a search warrant at a North Troy residence on March 11, where they reportedly found cocaine, cash and a pistol.
During the search, authorities say Pion referenced a previous incident in which he destroyed Orleans County Sheriff’s Department cruisers with a tractor.
Family members told investigators Pion frequented the apartment where the contraband was found, despite his claims of not living or visiting there. Court documents indicate Pion is prohibited from possessing firearms under an extreme risk protection order.
