LEBANON — York County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two suspects who fled into the woods after crashing a stolen vehicle on Depot Road in Lebanon Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies responding to the crash scene were told by witnesses that two occupants had escaped on foot into a heavily wooded area.

Deputy Cody Frazier and K9 Rebel were called to track the suspects, following their trail through dense woods and swampy terrain for approximately 2.5 miles.

Deputies Sanborn and Marshall also participated in the search operation.

The suspects were eventually located by K9 Rebel inside a vehicle on Cemetery Road after they had convinced an unsuspecting community member to give them a ride.

Authorities identified the suspects as Michael Espostio, 44, of Westbrook and Ericka Leary, 34, of Portland.

Investigation revealed the crashed vehicle had been stolen earlier that day from Sanford.

Esposito, who had an active probation revocation warrant, was additionally charged with Operating After Habitual Offender Revocation, a Class C felony.

He was held without bail and scheduled for an initial court appearance Wednesday.

Leary was arrested on an active probation revocation warrant from Cumberland County and transferred to the Cumberland County Jail.
