ENDICOTT — A Binghamton man was arrested after allegedly hiding methamphetamine in a Cheetos bag during an encounter with law enforcement in Broome County.
Ralph A. Carson, 29, was approached by members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force (SIU) on March 24 while they were conducting a narcotics investigation in the Town of Union and Village of Endicott.
According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Carson attempted to obstruct and resist investigators but was successfully taken into custody.
During the arrest, authorities discovered Carson was in possession of over 5 ounces of methamphetamine in multiple plastic bags, including one hidden in his pocket and others concealed inside a bag of Cheetos.
Carson has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree, a Class A-II Felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a Class B Felony; Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor; and Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Following arraignment at Central Arraignment Part, Carson remains in custody at the Broome County Sheriff’s Correctional Facility.
