OXFORD — The Oxford Police Department is investigating a woman who allegedly approached customers at local stores asking for money and gift cards.
On March 20, police received a report of suspicious activity at Walmart involving a female subject later identified as Lubriana Crisan.
According to police, Crisan presented notes to customers while accompanied by her children, requesting financial assistance.
Witnesses reported that Crisan directed her children to ask customers for money and gift cards as well.
Similar encounters were reported at the Oxford Hannaford store, police said.
During their investigation, officers determined that Crisan and her family had conducted similar activities across multiple states, obtaining “large amounts of cash and other items from numerous victims.”
The subjects were identified through passports and out-of-state driver’s licenses.
Police are asking anyone who had contact with Crisan or her family to contact the Oxford Police Department at (207) 539-4414.
