UNADILLA — A registered sex offender was arrested Monday after allegedly recording a juvenile victim who was changing clothes in a private room, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher M. DeMarco, 42, of Unadilla, was charged with first-degree unlawful surveillance, second-degree unlawful surveillance, four counts of failure to notify change of address as a sex offender, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Investigators said DeMarco, a level II sex offender, used a cell phone to covertly record the juvenile victim while they were changing clothes.

During the investigation, authorities discovered DeMarco possessed four internet accounts that were not registered with the New York State Sex Offender Registry as required by law.

Officials also determined DeMarco had been convicted of second-degree unlawful surveillance within the past ten years.

DeMarco was taken into custody Monday at 11:30 a.m. following the execution of a search warrant at his residence.

He was processed and lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.

An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim.

The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office recommended DeMarco be held without bail due to having two or more felony convictions.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Otsego County Child Advocacy Center in the investigation, which remains ongoing with additional charges pending.
