ALEXANDRIA BAY — A 24-year-old Alexandria Bay man was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony charges related to child exploitation material and illegal weapons possession.
Tyler R. Slate faces charges including possessing and promoting a sexual performance by a child, along with several weapons charges.
State Police said the arrest stemmed from an investigation initiated by information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which discovered Slate was distributing child exploitation material over the internet.
The weapons charges against Slate include criminal possession of a weapon for an ammunition feeding device, possession of a “ghost gun,” and two additional counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Slate is awaiting arraignment at Jefferson County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the New York State Police Troop D Computer Crime Unit, New York State Police Watertown and Homeland Security Investigations.
