Man arrested after knife incident at Roxbury store

BOSTON — A 28-year-old Roxbury man was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening someone with a knife at a Washington Street store.

Officers from District E-13 arrested Kavon Coston around 6:45 p.m. on March 24 following a report of a person with a knife at 3084 Washington Street.

According to police, the victim told officers that the suspect believed he had been cut in line inside the store.

The suspect reportedly left the store and returned holding a knife, which he brandished while chasing the victim inside the establishment.

The victim attempted to defend himself before both parties were separated, police said.

The victim then ran to the basement and locked himself inside for safety.

Officers located the suspect near Columbus Avenue toward the Boston Public Library based on the description provided.

Police recovered a knife after placing the suspect in handcuffs and also found eleven prescription pills during a search incident to arrest.

Coston was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of Class E drugs.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
