COXSACKIE — A Roscoe man was arrested on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop in Coxsackie revealed illegal substances in his vehicle, authorities said.
Troopers from State Police Catskill observed a 2014 Nissan traveling eastbound on Mansion Street in the village of Coxsackie at approximately 10:53 p.m. on March 22, committing multiple violations of the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law.
After initiating a traffic stop, troopers identified the driver as Brian K. Shear, 45, of Roscoe, and noted signs of impairment during their interaction.
A subsequent search of Shear and his vehicle led to the discovery of illegal substances, according to police.
Shear was arrested and transported to State Police Catskill for further evaluation, where he was determined to be impaired by drugs.
Authorities charged Shear with multiple offenses including criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal possession of cannabis, and operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs.
Shear was arraigned in the Town of Coxsackie Court and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in court on April 14 at 4 p.m.
