COLONIE — A Colonie man was arrested Monday after allegedly making threatening phone calls and then barricading himself in his home when police attempted to question him.
William R. Jones, 37, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment following the incident that began in the afternoon and ended with his surrender Monday evening.
State Police received a complaint at 1:58 p.m. from a Halfmoon resident who reported that Jones had called them with threats to cause physical harm and property damage.
Troopers located Jones at his Colonie home and attempted to interview him around 5 p.m.
During the interview attempt, Jones allegedly became uncooperative and threatened the troopers before barricading himself inside his residence and refusing to exit.
Following a brief standoff and negotiations, Jones surrendered peacefully at about 8 p.m. and was taken into custody without further incident.
Jones was transported to State Police barracks in Clifton Park for processing.
He was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
The Colonie Police Department assisted State Police throughout the incident.
