Bloomington man charged with assaulting deputy during domestic dispute

BLOOMINGTON — A 53-year-old Bloomington man has been arrested on felony assault charges after allegedly striking an Ulster County Sheriff’s deputy in the face during a domestic dispute call.

The incident occurred on Feb. 19 at approximately 8:15 p.m., when deputies responded to an address on Main Street in Bloomington to assist New York State Police.

While assisting troopers with their investigation, the man allegedly struck a deputy in the face, causing minor injury.

The man was transported to Health Alliance Hospital for an injury sustained during the dispute prior to the arrival of police.

The injured deputy was also evaluated at Health Alliance Hospital and later released.

The suspect was taken into custody on March 18 at approximately 6 p.m. at the Town of Rosendale Municipal Center.

He faces charges of second-degree assault, a felony, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor.

Following his arrest, the man was transported to Centralized Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 secured bond.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Rosendale Court at a later date.
