Man arrested after domestic incident at Finger Lakes inn in Auburn

AUBURN — Auburn police officers arrested a man on multiple charges after responding to a reported domestic incident at the Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes on March 23.

Officers were called to the inn at approximately 7:55 p.m. following an anonymous report of a male and female physically fighting inside a room.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim crying with visible marks from the altercation.

Police located the suspect, who initially provided a false name but was later identified as William Burgdoff.

Officers determined that Burgdoff had engaged in a physical altercation with the victim while a full stay away order of protection was active between them.

Burgdoff was taken into custody and transported to Auburn Police Department headquarters for processing.

He was later transferred to the Cayuga County Jail where he was held pending CAP arraignment.

Burgdoff faces multiple charges including aggravated contempt, a class D felony; aggravated family offense, a class E felony; first-degree criminal contempt, a class E felony; second-degree criminal contempt, a class A misdemeanor; criminal impersonation, a class A misdemeanor; and second-degree harassment, a violation.
