HYANNIS — Barnstable Police arrested a 21-year-old Yarmouthport man following a hit-and-run accident that injured two women in the parking area of the Tiki Port restaurant early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the Route 132 restaurant at approximately 1:50 a.m. on March 23 after reports that a white pickup truck struck two pedestrians before fleeing the scene.

Upon arrival, Barnstable patrol officers and Hyannis Fire and Rescue personnel provided medical treatment to two injured women.

One victim suffered severe injuries and was transported by ambulance to Cape Cod Gateway Airport, where she was airlifted by MedFlight to a Rhode Island Level 1 Trauma Center.

The second victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.

A Barnstable patrol officer later spotted and stopped the suspect vehicle, leading to the arrest of Maxwell Dean, 21, of Yarmouthport.

Dean faces multiple charges including two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and operating with a suspended license, along with several other motor vehicle violations.

He is being held at the Barnstable Police Department on $20,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment in Barnstable District Court on March 24.

The Barnstable Police Department’s Traffic and Detective Units continue to investigate the incident.
