Haverstraw spa shut down following prostitution arrest

1 min read

HAVERSTRAW — A joint operation between local and state police has resulted in the closure of a spa and the arrest of a Queens woman on prostitution and unlicensed practice charges.

On March 21, the Haverstraw Police Department and New York State Police conducted an operation at Solace Springs Spa, located at 242 N. Route 9W Unit F.

Zongying Zhang, 45, of Queens, was arrested and charged with one count of prostitution, a Class B misdemeanor, and unauthorized practice of a profession, a Class E felony.

Authorities allege Zhang solicited an undercover investigator for sexual acts in exchange for payment and performed massage services without the required professional license mandated by New York State law.

Following the arrest, the Village of Haverstraw Building Department revoked the spa’s Certificate of Occupancy, forcing the business to close.

Zhang was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court.
