CORTLANDVILLE — A Cortland man was arrested Thursday after allegedly stealing merchandise from Walmart while under an active no trespassing order.

Bodie L. Metzger, 47, of Cortland Motel, was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded to the Walmart at 819 Bennie Road in the town of Cortlandville at 6:41 p.m. for a reported larceny.

Investigators determined Metzger had stolen items from the store despite having previously been served with a no trespassing order that applied to all Walmart properties.

Metzger was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for processing before being arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m.

He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court on March 24 at 11 a.m.
