CORTLANDVILLE — A Taylor man was arrested Saturday for allegedly passing counterfeit $100 bills at a local business, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Justin E. Pittsley, 33, of Taylor Valley Road, was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree, falsifying business records in the first degree, and petit larceny.
The sheriff’s office received a complaint on March 9 about fraudulent currency being used at a business in the Town of Cortlandville.
Following an investigation, authorities determined Pittsley had passed fake $100 bills at the establishment.
An arrest warrant was issued, and Pittsley was located and taken into custody at 7:49 p.m. on March 22.
Pittsley was processed at the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m.
He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court on March 26 at 11:30 a.m.
