SALAMANCA — A Salamanca man was arrested after a series of vehicle break-ins on the east end of the city during the overnight hours of March 21 into March 22, according to police.
Brian Johnson, 38, was taken into custody and charged with four counts of trespass, two counts of petit larceny, and one count of criminal possession of stolen property.
During processing, Johnson was also found to be in possession of a small quantity of fentanyl, resulting in an additional charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree.
Police reported that several streets were affected by the break-ins, including East State Street, Highland Avenue, Great Valley Street, Central Avenue, Cross Street, and Prospect Avenue.
Johnson was identified on multiple surveillance cameras attempting to gain access to vehicles before his apprehension, officials said.
The suspect was processed on all charges and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Salamanca City Court at a later date.
In a separate incident on March 23, Johnson was again arrested for trespassing at the United States Post Office on Chestnut Street after hours without legitimate reason, police said.
Other recent arrests in Salamanca included Sean Dewitt, 33, who was taken into custody on March 19 on a bench warrant, and Collin Maybee, 31, who was arrested on March 20 for unlawful imprisonment and harassment following a domestic incident.
On March 21, Jason Dziubinski, 25, of Jamestown, was charged with disorderly conduct after an incident at the Seneca Allegany Casino, while Samuel Piazza, 72, of Union City, Pennsylvania, turned himself in on an active arrest warrant for grand larceny.
Police also reported issuing multiple traffic tickets throughout the week for violations including speeding, uninspected vehicles, and passing through a red light.
