BOSTON — A Boston man is facing multiple firearm charges after police discovered a loaded AM-15 rifle during a routine traffic stop in Roxbury on Friday.

At about 2:52 p.m., officers from the Boston Police Department’s District B-2 arrested Johnson Prevot, 35, after finding the weapon during an inventory search of his vehicle.

Police initially stopped Prevot on Circuit Street after observing a vehicle operating with revoked insurance.

When officers informed Prevot that his vehicle would need to be towed, they conducted an inventory search and discovered the firearm.

The weapon was later identified as an AM-15 rifle containing six rounds in the magazine.

Prevot was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, and defacement of a firearm serial number.
