PENN YAN — A Pennsylvania woman was arrested after police found a man with a serious head injury in an alleyway, authorities said Tuesday.

Tricia A. Richardson, 46, of Jersey Shore, faces multiple charges including assault after initially claiming the victim had accidentally fallen.

Officers responded to a report of an injured male and were directed to the scene by Richardson, where they found the man bleeding heavily from the back of his head, according to Penn Yan Police.

The victim was treated by emergency medical services at the scene before being airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

During police interviews, Richardson told officers the man had tripped and hit his head on a concrete step, but made several contradictory statements about the incident.

Investigators later obtained surveillance video showing Richardson had been involved in a physical altercation with the victim, police said.

The footage revealed Richardson had pushed, slapped and grappled with the victim multiple times in the alley, eventually causing him to fall and strike his head against a concrete step.

Richardson was charged with assault in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and harassment in the second degree.

She was transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment for the purpose of obtaining an order of protection.
