HIGHGATE — A 25-year-old transient man was arrested Friday night after allegedly assaulting two people at a residence on Vermont Route 78, state police said.
Austin Robtoy was taken into custody at approximately 10:36 p.m. following reports of an assault at 1059 VT Route 78 in Highgate.
Investigation revealed that Robtoy had physically assaulted a 29-year-old household member and Douglas Gardner, 69, of Highgate.
Police determined that Robtoy had violated two sets of active conditions of release that prohibited such behavior.
Robtoy was transported to the St. Albans State Police Barracks for processing on charges of domestic assault, simple assault, and violation of conditions of release.
He was subsequently lodged at Northwest Correctional Facility.
The identity of the 29-year-old victim was not released, as Vermont State Police does not disclose the names of victims of domestic violence.
